Terms of Service — Parent Awareness

Last updated: June 1, 2026

Welcome to Parent Awareness ("the App"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.

1. Eligibility

You must be 18 years of age or older to use this App. By using the App, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

2. The App is Educational Reference Only

Parent Awareness provides educational information about teen slang, drug references, vaping products, mental-health signals, online-predator tactics, and gang identifiers. The App is NOT: - Medical advice or a substitute for consultation with a licensed medical professional - Mental-health therapy or a substitute for a licensed therapist or counselor - Legal advice - A substance-abuse treatment program - Law-enforcement guidance - A monitoring or surveillance tool for your child's device

If your child is in crisis, call 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or your local emergency number immediately.

3. Accuracy and Limitations

We work hard to keep our dictionary accurate by sourcing from official public agencies (FBI, DEA, CDC, NCMEC, SAMHSA, 988 Lifeline, etc.). However: - Slang evolves rapidly. Some entries may become outdated. - Risk levels (Mild / Caution / Critical) are general guidance, not your family's specific risk. - AI-generated content (decoder, conversation starters) is best-effort and may be incorrect.

You agree that we are not liable for any decision you make based on the App's content.

4. Your Account

5. Community Contributions

When you submit a slang term via the Contribute form, you: - Grant Parent Awareness a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to display and curate the submission within the App. - Warrant that the submission is your original work or you have the right to share it. - Agree NOT to submit content that is illegal, defamatory, sexually explicit involving minors, or that promotes drug sales, violence, or gang recruitment.

We reserve the right to edit, reject, or remove any submission at our sole discretion.

6. Acceptable Use

You may NOT: - Use the App for any unlawful purpose. - Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code. - Scrape, harvest, or auto-collect data from the App. - Bypass authentication or rate limits. - Submit malicious code, spam, or harmful content. - Use the App to glorify, promote, or facilitate drug use, gang recruitment, self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, sexual exploitation of minors, or any other harm.

Violations may result in account suspension or permanent ban without refund.

7. Intellectual Property

All App content — design, code, curated dictionary entries, illustrations, AI prompts, and trademarks — is owned by Parent Awareness or its licensors. You may not reproduce, sell, or commercially exploit the App without our written permission.

8. Third-Party Services

The App uses third-party services for AI generation (Anthropic Claude via Emergent Integrations), database hosting (MongoDB Atlas), and image hosting (Pexels / Unsplash). Their terms of service also apply when their services are invoked through our App.

9. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PARENT AWARENESS AND ITS CREATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP.

Our total liability for any claim arising from the App is limited to USD $25.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Parent Awareness harmless from any claim, damage, or expense (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party right.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the App. Continued use after a change means you accept the new Terms.
